Off-season duties continue for the Kindersley Klippers as the team now prepares for the 2018 SJHL Bantam Draft that's scheduled to take place in Nipawin on the first weekend in June.

The draft is a vital area that helps shape the core of a team's roster for the years down the road when the players are eligible to suit up with a club full time but can be a very difficult process.

Brett Sautner is the President of the Klippers and talks about the difficulty of the draft and how the Klippers plan to approach it this year.

"It's kind of difficult with the SJHL draft because you have to base your picks on players that have already been selected in the WHL draft. You have to take the best available player in the draft based on location, and if you think the player will be available in the league or not. There are many factors that need to be considered." Sautner said.

The 2018 WHL Bantam Draft was held on May 3rd in Red Deer and saw over 200 players selected to an organization.

The Klippers will have 6 draft picks within the first 6 rounds of the draft and will be looking to make wise decisions come draft day. Scouting continues to be a priority for the Klippers as Sautner explains how the club is able to view players efficiently throughout the season.

"It's definitely a priority for us and something that you have to do if you want to succeed down the road. The West Central Wheat Kings Bantam AA team had several home games here in the region so we were able to see other players on the road suit up. We have scouts all over the province as well as in Alberta and B.C. so we have it covered." Sautner explained.

The Klippers have had a busy off-season already with the hiring of new General Manager and Coach Clayton Jardine. The team will also hold their AGM on June 18th.
