1931 ~ 2023 (age 92)

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Loyd James Melvin Miners.  Loyd passed away peacefully in Leader Hospital on October 22 at the age of 92.  He was the eldest son of the late James and Florence Miners.  Saddened by this loss are: his loving, caring friend Marie Smith, siblings Mary Saunders, Shirley Arthur, Carl (Mary Ann) , Jack, Larry (Dorothy) and brothers-in-law George Pickering, Janet Saunders (niece), and Johnnie Miners (nephew), as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by Doris Johnson, Jean Pickering, and Donald Miners.

Loyd came to the Eatonia area in 1953 on a harvest excursion and took permanent residence in 1955.  He started out farming, then worked for the R.M. of Chesterfield, and retired at the age of 55 from the Alsask Salt Mine.  For years he loved traveling, fishing, camping, hunting, working in his garden, and doing woodworking.  In later years he enjoyed playing Kaiser and listening to Western audiobooks.  Loyd was a kind, caring, gentle, considerate man and he will be missed by his friends.  Loyd’s wish was no funeral, and his ashes will be taken to Ontario to be buried in the family plot.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eatonia Oasis Living or a charity of your choice.
