Peaceful protesters filled Parliament Hill over the last two days to have their voices heard, including local MP, David Anderson, who spoke to the crowd that gathered on Tuesday.

Anderson, MP Cypress Hills-Grasslands, took to the podium to thank the crowd for their courage.

“Thank you for driving across this country to make your voices heard, for taking a stand, and for having the courage to come down here to send this government a message. We need to set aside Bill C-69 and Bill C-48. We need to build those pipelines,” said Anderson.

According to a news release, multiple speakers raised their concerns with the aforementioned Bills, as well as, the agriculture industry and carbon tax.

In a tweet made by the United We Roll Convoy, organizers proclaimed what their intentions were, “Our message is clear. We want agriculture to survive in Canada. We do not want a crippling carbon tax. We do not want Bill C-69 or C-48. We do want a pipeline. That’s it! That’s our message. We support and want to unite Canada.”

Another tweet from the Convoy stated that they would be doing a second peaceful rally yesterday as well, before they make their way back home.

Anderson, who also spoke at the Kindersley Ag & Oil Forum on February 6, 2019, shared with spectators on the Hill the upset that has ensued among the families and residents in the west central region surrounding the above topics.

At the forum, printed letters were available for guests to sign that expressed opposition to Bill C-69. Candy Gordon, Ag & Oil Forum organizer, said to date, they have collected approximately 1600 letters that they have sent to Senators with more letters coming in daily.
