The U22 Outlook Ice Hawks girls team has been busy on and off the ice as we wrap up the month of January. This included the banquet held this past weekend, and we talked to Head Coach & GM of the Ice Hawks about how things went.

“The banquet went great for us; it was a great experience for the girls. The three speakers were fantastic, really good message from them. Colleen Sostorics came and ran a practice for us on the outdoor rink, which was neat. Our team got a lot out of it, and the community supported the event well. We were really pleased with how it all went; it was a great night for everybody.”

As for how the team has fared so far this season, Houseman is happy with how things have been so far.

“Our team is great. We have got a good group of girls, and they work hard, do everything we ask of them. We're kind of battling for a (playoff) spot. But as far as the league and the teams are concerned, I think it's all been great so far. There have been a few growing pains like any new league, but we're getting it ironed out and the competition's been good. I think every team is improving. It's getting better all the time; it's nice to see.”

The 4-7-1 U22 Ice Hawks will return to the ice this weekend for a pair of games. First up is Saturday date with the league leading Saskatoon Prairie Blaze on the road, with puck drop set for 5:00 pm. Then the team will head back to Outlook for the first of three consecutive home games to wrap up the regular season Sunday versus the Regina Junior Rebels at 3:00 pm.
