With the daily temperatures getting cooler, that can only mean that winter is well on it's way. This also serves as a reminder to get your winter tires put on your vehicle, as the weather can become cold unexpectedly.

Summer tires can harden one the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius, making them less flexible, resulting in grip and traction loss that can result in loss of vehicle control and cause personal injury or severe vehicle damage, as well as sliding off roadways and other auto accidents.  Winter tires have a softer rubber composition which allows them to be more flexible in colder temperatures. Also, winter tires have special grooves called "siping" which allows the tires to get better grip in snow, slush, and icy conditions.

Ensure that your tires are changed by a professional at a licensed tire shop that specializes in winter tire installation. Also find an area, either at home or in a storage shed, to store your summer tires for the winter where they will not be exposed to overly cold temperatures and where they will always be kept dry. All season tires can also be used as an alternative, and will not need to be swapped out during the changing seasons.
