West central youth to represent Saskatchewan in Victoria BC
Youth across western Canada are making their way to Victoria BC this week to compete in the Canada West Preforming Arts Festival. West central Saskatchewan will be represented well with three performers making the cut. Bria Sifert from Leader will compete on Friday. says "Since I was little I've always really loved to preform" Its something she loves to do. Placing second at provincials in Saskatoon she earned her spot in the national competition. Bria says "it's really crazy and doesn't feel real" But she's really excited to take the stage Friday. Brothers Steyn and Willem Hoogstad from Macklin are also representing Saskatchewan. Both were awarded 1st place in respectively the Senior and Intermediate Speech categories during the Saskatchewan Provincial festival that took place at the start of June, thereby earning them a place at the national finals at the University of Victoria this week. Willem says "He's excited and nervous" but its what they worked so hard for to go up against some of the best. Steyn says a lot of work goes into getting here "We've been working on our pieces for a long time" Willem competes on Friday and Steyn on Saturday All the youth praise their local festivals on helping them get here and all the support offered
