What do you get when you have bikers, toys and a big dose of kind-hearted goodwill? The 4th Annual Legion Poker Rally and Toy Run.

This Saturday local bikers are coming together to raise money and collect new toy donations for the West Central Crisis Centre, a tradition that is coming up on it’s fourth year.

Al with the Kindersley Legion is the man who has helped put the event together since it’s inception and hopes that this year will be a big success.

“It’s open to everyone, now of course you have to have a bike to ride in the parade and do the poker rally, but everyone – bike or not – can donate a new toy that will be given to the Crisis Centre”.

Al stated that they will be set up at the legion all day for those who want to make a donation. Those who are participating on bikes are also required to donate a new toy along with an entry fee, of which, a portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Crisis Centre.

The festivities are set to begin at 11 am when bikers will register at the Kindersley Legion where they will also receive their first card for the poker rally.

At noon, the parade will commence starting at the Legion and making their way down Main Street, ending at the Travelodge where they will collect all the toys from the bikers before they make their way throughout west central for the remainder of the poker rally.

Spectators are encouraged to come out and line Main Street and show their support for the cause and with the forecast currently showing sunny skies, it is shaping up to be a great day to be out and supporting local.

Bikers will make their way through Kerrobert, Luseland and Coleville, collecting cards along the way before they return to the Kindersley Legion for a wrap-up dinner.

Al shared that the dinner is just open to the riders, but reiterated that donations can be made at the Legion throughout the day.

Although the event is staying fairly local, Al stated that word has reached as far as Alsask about the event.

“There is a lady out that way, Michelle, who is having a BBQ tomorrow tonight and people have to bring a new toy as a donation to have the meal, but – she is going to be bringing that truck-load of toys here and donating them to the toy run”.

He added that they are taking the necessary precautions due to covid and asks that everyone who attends, follows the proper protocols to keep everyone safe.

In a year where covid has stolen many events and fundraisers, locals are encouraged to embrace the upcoming toy run and poker rally and give where they can.

Additionally, as it is a long weekend and traffic may be higher, motorists are being reminded to drive safely and watch for the bikers out on the roadways as they make their way through the region for the poker rally.
