The town of Kerrobert has reclaimed the properties commonly known as “the old Hospital and Buen vista”, making the area off limits to the public.

Due to the run-down nature of the buildings present, the town has taken possession of the area and has informed the RCMP to enforce trespassing laws on all who enter.

The town has done this due to the danger the current state of the building is in, and many concerned residents have voiced their worries.

The town asks parents to speak with their children that trespassing is a chargeable offence so that they are aware as the town begins to put up signs and fences around the area.

According to the new trespassing laws that came out in 2021, a first-time offence can land you with up to a $5000 fine and or a jail sentence no longer than 6 months.

Second offences increase the fines to $25 000.

No plan or timeline has been released as of reporting regarding the cleanup of the buildings.
