The Hoosier Community Hall will be buzzing once again, as Campfire Sessions, which is western entertainment including stories, songs and poems, is set to take place on Saturday, November 5. Laura Hayes, who will be taking her talents the Community Hall, talks about the fun.

“We are going to have an evening of Western entertainment, and we've got performers coming from all the Prairie provinces. So, a couple of fellows from Manitoba, myself here from Saskatchewan and then a friend from Alberta is also going to be there. You can expect music, storytelling, poetry, laughs, good ideas, thought provoking things, all of that stuff rolled up into a great evening of getting together as a community,” Hayes said.

The performers who will be joining Hayes will be Diamond Doug Keith, Ed Brown and BJ Smith. Hayes talked about the familiarity she has with the group, and is looking forward to performing once again.

“I perform with these guys usually once a year at gatherings. There's one in Maple Creek, it's the cowboy poetry gathering, but it's also music and a bunch of different things. There used to be one in Pincher Creek that we would go to all the time, so there's just these sorts of very niche events that happen in Alberta and in Saskatchewan, in B.C. down into the United States. And there's so much fun and they're very welcoming for creativity and people really flock to them and they have a very loyal following. And I love the events so much. So, we really miss doing it and we miss being in each other's company, having that camaraderie and friendship on stage and performing for people who appreciate original pieces, original songs and poems and ideas and all that kind of good stuff. So, I thought if there isn't an event that we can go to, then, I'm going to plan an event for them to come see you, so that's what I did.”

Hayes, who also part of the Bea Bank 4H Beef Club where the proceeds from the event will go, then talked about how you can pick up your tickets.

“They can be purchased at the door, but if you purchase in advance that really helps us plan, of course, so you can purchase them at the Hoosier Co-op. Or you can contact me directly and I can set them aside, so we have some idea of numbers. The proceeds are going to go to the Bea Bank 4H Beef Club. And it's kind of centered out of the Hoosier Area and we have our meetings up in that hall. Hoosier is one of those communities that's really great for coming out to events when they are going on, so we're looking forward to seeing lots of people out.”
