Executives from the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan are in Ottawa this week.

The groups Executive meeting with MPs, Senators and their staff during the Canadian Federation of Agriculture's board meeting and lobby day on Parliament Hill.

APAS President Todd Lewis says they are cautiously optimistic when it comes to the Federal Governments latest changes to their Small Business Tax Reform plan.

"On the income sprinkling side, I think the biggest concern from agriculture was how family members were considered how they were paid," he said. "It sounds like the government is going to set some rules and guidelines on the income sprinkling side that should fit agricultures needs were hoping and we will continue talking to them about that."

He notes you never really know until the legislation or the rules are introduced but it seems pretty positive.

"Certainly on the path of investment side, the $50,000 we've had some clarity on that issue now and I think that was a positive," Lewis said. "Pulling totally back on the capital gains and going back to business, as usual, is a positive too. Overall we had some intense lobbying and in a lot of ways we can say it has been successful as the government did listen to what we said."
