The town of Biggar came to life last weekend during their annual Festival of Lights.

The event kicked off at the Biggar Museum and Gallery at 5 pm, where guests could receive tours, as well as hot dogs and free hot chocolate.

The Museum itself was very well attended, selling over 220 hot dogs, which came as no surprise to Museum employee Delta-Faye Cruickshank.

“This has been going on for years in Biggar, and everybody looks forward too it. Especially the kids with the hay ride, and then while they’re on the hay rise, mom and dad get to come to the museum in peace, and take a look at everything.”

Elsewhere in the town, the Biggar Daycare held a cabaret, a dance was held in the Biggar Central School 2000 gym, and at 8 pm, hundreds of lights were turned on at the Sandra Schmirler park, to give merit to the evening’s name.

Cruickshank shared why the lighting of the park was so special.

“Our park now is fully lit at night, and businesses throughout the town have got beautiful arrangements that they’ve made, and they’re at the base of these lights. “

The proceeds raised by the museum through their hot dog sales will go towards keeping the museum open, so that they can continue to teach visitors about the history of Biggar.
