The SJHL recently announced the 2023 nominees for the RBC Ambassador Award, and Kindersley Jr. Klippers forward and local Tylin Hilbig was one of the 12 nominees.

West Central Online caught up with the Klippers alternate captain last week to talk about the nomination.

"It's awesome. I was really happy to get it, I was excited. It's really cool being a hometown product, and to give back to the community," Hilbig said.

Tylin then talked about how great it's been playing with his brother at home and following in his father's footsteps.

“It's awesome. I haven't got to play with my brother since Bantam (U15), so it's really nice getting to play with him again and be on the same team with him. It's really cool that my dad played with this team as well. Living at home makes everything so much easier, to have my parents there all the time and just the whole family.”

Tylin was also recently just at the Western Canada Crop Production Show with teammates Logan Linklater, Cash Arntsen and brother Ethan Hilbig. Tylin talks about being at the show representing the Jr. Klippers.

“It went really well, we signed a lot of cards, saw a lot of little kids and people who are fans, and talked with a bunch people about the league, our team. It was a different atmosphere than what we're used to, it was really cool.”

The Jr. Klippers are coming off a 3-2 victory over Flin Flon back on Saturday and will shift focus to division rival Humboldt Wednesday night at 7:30 pm on the road.

Country 104 will have the call for that one, with the Murlin Electronics pregame show beginning at 7:15 pm.
