Kindersley’s Dakota Buttar inches his way closer to the number one spot in Canadian bull riding after his performance at Coronation, AB.

Buttar is now ranked No. 2 in Canada and sits just 199.99 points behind first place, currently held by another Saskatchewan bull rider, Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage.

In round one at the Coronation Royal Rumbull, the Kindersley cowboy drew OMB Full Sleeve and between the two of them, earned 83.5 points. In the championship round, Buttar outlasted the eight-seconds atop Homegrown and beat his previous score with an 87.5 point ride and claimed second place in the event.

Not only did Buttar earn 210 Canadian points, positioning himself just out of first place, he also added 30 world points to his total for 2019.

His summer Canadian tour has been nothing but successful as he rode his way to winning four events and placing in the top five at six other events. Buttar is no doubt within striking distance of claiming the No. 1 spot in Canada as he boasts a 70.96 ride percentage this summer.

Providing he holds on to his top ranking in Canada, Buttar will be able to compete at the PBR Canadian Finals with somewhat of a home advantage as they are set to take place in Saskatoon this November.

His summer of success north of the border has also allowed Buttar to stay within the top 35 bull riders in the world as he is currently ranked No. 30. The World PBR Finals will also take place this November from Las Vegas, where the top 35 bull riders in the world will compete for a shot at the world title.
