Canadian adults used to eat fairly well, according to a 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, which showed us regularly eating from all four food groups.

However, a recent survey from the Dairy Farmers of Canada found that in 2009, many adults were leaving out entire food groups from their diets. The most frequently neglected groups were fruits & vegetables and milk & alternatives.

Not only is eating from all four food groups necessary for good health; eating healthy foods can have other benefits too. For example, many fruits and vegetables can reduce the chance of cancer and heart disease.
