The City of Humboldt declared a local state of emergency on Sunday in light of the flooding occurring following an intense thunderstorm. Several inches of rainfall has hit central Saskatchewan in a short period. Humboldt has taken the brunt with flooding occurring in the city’s northwest end.

On the city’s west side, 16th Street and Barnes and Thompson Crescent are flooded as are many other residential streets. 5th Avenue had also been closed by the Fire Department.

With over 3.5 inches of rain and in some locations more, Mayor Rob Muench, declared a state of Emergency for the city of Humboldt.

"On June 14th at 5:15 pm, Mayor Rob Muench called a state of Local Emergency for the City of Humboldt due to the high amount of rainfall that fell within a short period of time, and the risk of stormwater infiltrating and overwhelming the sanitary sewer system."
