Update: 12:55pm:

Despite a provincial order allowing elections to be delayed, west central communities are continuing to vote this afternoon. From Biggar, Rosetown, Outlook, Dinsmore, Milden, Kerrobert, Leader, and many more. Residents are making their way to cast their ballot.

The Town of Eston has already had a respectable turnout.

"Advanced polls were well attended, but even with this weather today we've had close to 25 people," Jody Schmidt the Town of Eston's Returning Officer shared.

Crews across the region have been out since very early this morning, and parking lots and pathways to polling locations were priorities in a number of communities. The parking lot at Rosetown's Elks Hall was cleared just as polls opened. In Eston crews are still working, and it should only get easier to vote as the day progresses.

"Our crews are out. They're at it. They always start with emergency routes first, those are done, and now they're moving onto side streets. But I should make a note, if anyone is stuck at home and they do want to vote, just call the Town office and we can arrange a ride."

To vote, do not forget a government issued photo I.D. and a piece of I.D. that contains your civic address.

To arrange for a ride to polls in Eston call: 306-962-4444.

Update 10:10am: The provincial government has provided a special order to allow for election delays. Local Returning Officers have the ability to make the decision. READ MORE

Original Story:

Civic elections are plowing ahead today despite the large amount of snow that showed up over the weekend.

There is no legislation that allows returning officers to delay local elections. As a result, west central voters will need to cautiously make their way to the polls when they open at 9:00am this morning.

Polls will be open from 9:00am until 8:00 pm today. Many local municipalities are encouraging residents to vote later in the day, as crews will be working to clear parking lots and roadways for polling locations.

If you're address is incorrect, or you do not have a drivers license, two pieces of I.D. will be required. A utility bill with your civic address and name, along with another piece of I.D. will work.
