The 2016 Provincial Heritage Fair will take place at the Government House in Regina on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, with students arriving on May 24 for activities and to set up their displays. Regional Fairs in 2016 took place in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, and Regina.

Like the Regional Fairs, the Provincial Heritage Fair provides the selected students with the opportunity to showcase their work to the public and other students; to participate in hands-on, interactive workshops; to explore heritage spots; to hear stories of our province’s past; and to compete for several awards. Additionally, the Provincial Fair brings together students from across the province. It is a unique opportunity for those selected to attend to meet fellow students from across Saskatchewan with an interest in heritage.

This year, students will visit the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, Government House Museum, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, and the Saskatchewan Legislative Building.

Rosetown had a few students attend the Regional Heritage Fair in Saskatoon on April 27th and 28th at the Western Development Museum. Dinithi Mudalige, a grade 8 student at RCHS in Rosetown placed 2nd overall out of approximately 135 entries.

Dinithi was selected to go to the Provincial Showcase, with their project 'Evolution of the Immigration Policy', as one of the top 14 projects in the fair. Dinithi's project took a closer look at Canada's immigration policy, from the early beginnings to present day policies.

There are a few other students from West Central Saskatchewan taking part in the fair: Eston: Student is Colby Hough (Gr. 6) – his project is Banff National Park.

Dinsmore: Students are both in Gr. 7; Wyatt Jones’s project is The Toronto Blue Jays and Samuel Friesen’s project is My Filipino Heritage.

The Provincial Heritage Fair will take place on May 25th at the Government House in Regina.
