Saskatchewan Roughriders long snapper, and player ambassador, Jorgen Hus made his way through the frigid temperatures to Dinsmore Composite School on January 11 to hold a couple of presentations. First was the Rider Reading Program, which focuses on Grade 1-4 students. And then afterwards was the "Win with Wellness" program, which focuses on mental health for Grade 5-12 students. Dinsmore Composite School Librarian Yvonne Jackson talked about the presentations.

“I applied last May, but of course it was going into the football season. So, they said they would shortlist us for this year. And they emailed me back just before Christmas, and I jumped out of my skin, I was so excited, that they could come for the Rider Reading Program, which is usually kindergarten to Grade 5. I had just asked Roughrider Foundation if he (Hus) could do just to visit with the rest of the kids. And that's when she mentioned the Win with Wellness program also. So, they decided to include the whole school, including our whole student body. So, we set it up for January 11th and Jorgan came out and read to our grade 1 to 4 and answered some questions. And of course, as they were elementary questions, some were pretty funny.”

Jackson then went into detail about the Win for Wellness program and presentation.

‘For the next hour, he (Hus) did a mental Wellness presentation for Grades 5 to 12. And it was just the slideshow presentation. And he answered questions after that and just mingled with the kids.”

As Hus is the long snapper for the Green and White, he did not want to leave the kids out.

“He even did some passes to a couple of the kids because he's the long snapper. And he did autographs, and everybody in the school got an autographed bookmark, and it was great. Everybody enjoyed it, he is an amazing person,” Jackson added.

Jackson also added just how nice a person Hus was with the kids and the staff as well.

“He (Hus) is such a down-to-earth person. He's going into his 10th year, and he said he's been doing it that long. He's been going into the schools for nine years doing this and he enjoys it. He said he loves reading to the kids, just getting to know the kids and answering questions. It was just super, even the staff thought it was awesome.”
