With school back in session, the residents of Eatonia said farewell to the outdoor swimming pool for another year in the best way possible, with bubbles and four-legged friends.

After an impromptu testing session last week, Eatonia’s recreation director, Gwen Britton, set up a foam machine at the community pool for all to enjoy this past Labour Day.

“We tested it out on the summer camp kids, they were my guinea pigs,” joked Britton, “we got all the kinks worked out and the kids had a great time with it at the pool. They were jumping into the pile of bubbles and put on some goggles and let the bubbles pour down on their head, it was really fun.”

Britton said they had a great turn out with the morning hours being the busiest, before the wind picked up.

After all the fun was had with the foam machine, the day went to the dogs, literally.

The Eatonia pool opened it’s doors for the last swim of the year to residents’ four-legged friends and Britton said it was a great way to wrap up the swim season.

“We had about six to eight dogs come out and their owners, of all ages, got in the pool and they all kind of said hello and played with their neighbours in the community. It was really cute and everyone had a great time.”

Britton added all the dogs were very well behaved and the event went off without incident.

Being new to the position of recreation director, Britton seemingly stepped into the role determined to bring fun and joy to the community and her recent events, have been yet another example, of how she has done just that.
