Staff from the Kindersley Library are preparing for what will be an eventful month for the Wheatland Regional Library branch.

Their busy schedule already kicked off yesterday with their "Craft Time" summer programming offered to all residents until the end of August. The program runs from 2:15 PM to 3:15 PM a couple times a week and is available for two different age groups; ages 8 and older participate on Tuesdays while the library welcomes youth ages 8 and younger for crafts on Wednesdays.

"All of these craft events are free of charge," said Marilyn Shea, Librarian for the Kindersley Branch. "We have a grant from the Community Initiative Fund that is paying for all the costs for it and it's open for everyone."

One of the other activities which will keep library visitors engaged during the warm months is the "Summer Reading Game". Once again, the program is offered for both youth and adults, and residents are encouraged to come out to the library to find out more about this exciting opportunity.

A couple noteworthy events will highlight the library's schedule for the month of July as well.

The Kindersley Branch will be bringing back the outreach program with the Saskatchewan Science Centre on Thursday, July 20th. The event is centred around youth ages 7-12 and allows them to take part in an afternoon of fun science activities with the Centre's Go! Science Outreach Team. "It's starting at 1:00 PM and will last until 4:00 PM, and it will be held at the United Church Hall," said Shea. "It's just a really fun way to learn science with high energy."

And a big party is set to take part at the branch later this month. Staff will be hosting a 50th anniversary celebration for the Wheatland Regional Library which will be offered to residents of all ages. The afternoon will include snacks, prizes, and giveaways as part of the festivities as well.

Listen below to Shea discussing the performer who will be at the library that day to entertain children during the celebrations:
