The Extreme School Makeover Challenge started back in 2006. Since then, over 30 schools in Saskatchewan have received funds to help expand their nutrition programs. In 2016, 45 schools throughout the province submitted entries. The goal of the challenge is to recognize success and encourage grassroots initiatives that will foster improved nutrition for all students. The Mosaic Extreme School Makeover Challenge is open to all schools in Saskatchewan. Participating schools receive a certificate of recognition acknowledging their efforts to create healthier school nutrition environments. Ten winners will each receive a $10,000 prize. Schools are invited to submit nutrition-related action plans prior to April 17th, 2017. Entries will be judged on quality of nutritional programming and potential benefits to the school community.

Celeste Geisbauer, senior community investment specialist with Mosaic, talks about how and when the program started.

Geisbauer, talks about the panel of judges who will decide which schools get the prize money.
