Saskatchewan has confirmed it's first presumptive case of COVID-19. The individual was tested on Monday after they were experiencing symptoms following a recent trip to Egypt.

Today it was confirmed by a provincial lab and has been sent to the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg for confirmation. Public health is investigating close contacts of the individual and will call those who may be at risk.

The Saskatchewan resident is in his 60's and is well enough to self-isolate at home  and the Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab - said that the risk of contracting the virus in Saskatchewan remains low. He added however, it is still critical to practice good hygiene and stay home if you are feeling sick.

A media conference is planned from Regina this morning with Dr. Shahab to discuss more on the detection.

West Central Online will have more following the conference.
