Looking for something to do this Family Day long weekend? Why not give fishing a try?

The Saskatchewan government announced that they will once again have a free fishing weekend from Feb. 18-20.

During the Family Day long weekend, Saskatchewan residents and visitors can fish at any of the provincial bodies of water without having to purchase a fishing license.

All provincial fishing regulations will still apply during free fishing weekends including catch limits and you must have a fishing license to transport fish out-of-province.

The province is advising residents, however, to use caution when going out on the ice as water does not freeze uniformly and can be unpredictable. You need about 10 cm of ice thickness for walking and at least 30 cm for a light vehicle.
