Grass fire extinguished near Biggar

Recent rainfall hasn't completely extinguished the chance for grass fires.

Not every region has experienced the recent rain that put a major halt to any field fire hazards. As you can see above, the Biggar Fire Department recently responded to a grass fire near town limits.

One of the emergency crews on scene, Biggar RCMP detachment commander SGT. Dereck Crozier shared more on a timely response.

"Thanks to a quick response by our fire volunteers, a grass fire burning along the south side of the tracks was quickly contained before the wind took it out of control."

The Biggar RCMP's latest report did not share the date of the blaze.
