The high school football season will officially kick off for the 2023 season Thursday afternoon.

There are a handful of local games to kick-off the season. Teams have only been practicing for a few short weeks.

SHSAA 1A action sees Kerrobert travelling to Plenty today for a 4:30 PM kickoff. The road Rebels won't have far to go as they renew hostilities with the Wildcats for another year.

SHSAA 2A play is jam-packed with local action to begin the year. The Kindersley Kobras will host the Unity Warriors at 4:30 in the first game of the year from Rotary Field. The second 2A game sees the Eatonia Spartans packing their bags for Biggar where they will face the Blazers.

Macklin is the third local team in the 1A pool, and they open up their season next week September 14 on the road against Hafford. Tentatively in 2A, LCBI is set to host Rosetown at 4:00 PM, though that game could be postponed to another date.

All games this year will take place either on Thursday's or Friday's, with kickoff at 4:00 PM, or otherwise designated by the home team.
