The Kindersley Jr. Klippers got off to a fast start in Tuesday's game against the Weyburn Red Wings at home. Aidan Bangs got things started with a shorthanded goal at the 5:43 mark on a nice pass from Liam Bell and went in alone on Eric Kahl and beat him one on one to give the Klippers the lead. Kindersley's powerplay went to work as Matthew Mazzocchi scored at the side of the net on a nice setup from Josh Morton to double the Klippers lead. The other assist went to Liam Bell.

Kindersley continued the momentum into the early part of the second period, as while killing a penalty, Mazzocchi stole the puck just inside the defensive zone blue line and went in alone on Kahl and beat him to give the Klippers their second shorthanded marker of the game. The Red Wings then made a goaltender change and brought in Dazza Mitchell, and this seemed to spark Weyburn. They got on the board just over a minute and half later, with Mathieu Gautier putting in a bouncing puck past Logan Falk to cut into the Klippers lead. The helpers went to Ty Mason and Nicholas Kovacs.

Then the Red Wings got a gift just over half way through the second as Cash Arntsen made an arrant pass right out front of his own net to Riley See, and he made no mistake beating a surprised Falk to cut the lead to one.

The third period was all Red Wings, as the Klippers only had 17 skaters, and they just simply ran out of gas. Captain Matthew Reidy tied the score on a shot from the top of circles which Logan Falk would want back, as the puck went over his blocker side shoulder and he waved at it with his glove and missed. The Red Wings completed the comeback on a broken play which found Elijah Anderson all alone out front and beat Falk. The assists went to Ethan Whillans and Braigh LeGrandeur. Kindersley then could not take advantage of a four minute kneeing penalty to Blake Betson, as they seemed shellshocked from blowing the three goal lead.

The goaltender change by Head Coach and GM Cody Mapes seemed to give the Red Wings a boost and they never looked back, scoring four straight goals for the 4-3 comeback victory. That combined with the Klippers not having a full lineup, were the two main reasons why Weyburn won this game. Kindersley will need to forgot this loss, and refocus, as one of the top teams in the SJHL will be at the West Central Events Centre Friday, the Humboldt Broncos. Game time for that one is 7:30 pm.
