Regular business from the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan resumed earlier this week. Some strong economic numbers were touted by Kindersley MLA Ken Francis during statements by members on Tuesday, March 5.

Francis spoke on Saskatchewan seeing record levels of investment and job growth. As a member of the Standing Committee on the Economy, Francis was eager to share more on the province's exciting growth that's being noticed around the world.

"It is a fact: Saskatchewan is indeed the most attractive jurisdiction for oil and gas investment in the nation. And according to a Fraser Institute 2023 survey, our province ranked third out of 17 North American jurisdictions." began Francis, addressing the speaker.

Continuing to reference the report, Francis talked about Saskatchewan possessing the highest scores when it came to things like skilled labour, developed infrastructure, and investment security.

"Yes, we have the fuel, the food, and the fertilizer the world market needs, Mr. Speaker, and we have the hard-working, skilled labour force required to get those products to our global customers."

Francis also used the government's recent rip to COP28 as a way to recognize Saskatchewan's global position.

"Our international partners recognize the value Saskatchewan brings to the world market. Our government’s policies have allowed us to see record levels of investment and job growth right here at home."

Francis credited his government's plan for the rising investment, as by 2030 they hope to provide Saskatchewan's economy, "with the framework to establish higher levels of oil production, potash extraction, and job creation." Speaking on the members opposite, Francis said the opposition may, "have plenty of ideas on how to spend money, but never have a plan, nor how to create or generate sustainable revenue".

"That means more revenue being created to invest in essential services, investments that create stronger communities, stronger families, and ultimately a stronger Saskatchewan." said Francis before his closing remarks, thanking all of the, "dedicated workers, investors, and job creators who make this province the best in Canada."
