The Melfort Mustangs did the SJHL proud at the Centennial Cup in Oakville, Ontario. A tremendous run to the finals unfortunately fell just short for Kerrobert's Austin Shepherd, and assistant coach Tye Scherger out of Macklin as they lost 1-0 in the tournament final.

The tournament's top two teams battled it out, Melfort taking on the Ontario Junior Hockey League's Collingwood Blues in the finals. The teams played to a scoreless first, before the Blues went up 1-0 in the second, holding on from there to capture the Junior "A" national championship live on TSN.

Finishing as the top team in Group B, the Mustangs used a semi-final win against the AJHL's Calgary Canucks to advance to the finals. In six games total, the Mustangs only regulation loss came in the finals against the Blues.

WestCentralOnline was able to capture tons of terrific content from the two local Mustangs representing the SJHL. See more from the coaches, and a recap of their Canterra Seeds Cup victory with another local SJHL voice as well.
