A man charged with murder in the death of his wife is being ordered to visit a doctor for a mental assessment.

Wesley John Veit is being accused for second degree murder of his wife, Heidi Veit. Her body was found approximately 5 kilometers outside of Wilkie on March 28th, 2017.

The judge ordered Veit to be examined by doctors at the forensic unit at the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford. The only problem is that the examination could take several weeks to complete, due to the hospital being very busy at the moment.

Mr. Veit made his second appearance in provincial court when this was decided, and his lawyer, Leslie Sullivan, was the one who was reaching for Veit to see a doctor. Sullivan later stated she believed Veit had tremendous difficulty with understanding and comprehending just how serious the consequences would be.

The police have yet to release further details on the cause of Heidi's death, as well as the lead-up in which resulted in death. Heidi Veit had worked at Living Sky School Division as an educational assistant.
