An opportunity for residents of Rosetown and surrounding areas to learn about the digital arts is today. "My Community Through the Lens" is a free digital photography workshop coming to town.

The workshop will cover areas such as camera settings and how to make a simple picture more interesting and eye catching using angles and other artistic touches.  The participants will have an opportunity to have a picnic in the park before they venture out on their own to practice what they have learnt.

Following the picnic and photo shoot, there will be a slideshow presentation of the photographs taken that afternoon with certificates being awarded to best photos in a number of categories.

Maggie Lens, Program and Outreach Co-ordinator for the Saskatchewan Society for Education through Art explains that each participant will then choose one of their photos to be matted, framed, and displayed at the Downtown Hallway Gallery in Rosetown. The display will be up during September and October of this year.

Everyone who is registered is asked to bring their digital camera and a lunch for the picnic.
