It was announced on Wednesday that $1.5 million is going to community groups in over 200 Saskatchewan communities, all thanks to the third quarter grants from Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS).

Several communities throughout west-central Saskatchewan were heavily included on the list. Receiving the most money was groups out of the Town of Macklin.

Grants under $1000 saw Care-A-Lot Playschool allotted $347.50, and then St. Joseph's Integrated Health Centre came in at $667.30. In the middle was the Macklin Curling Club getting $1,391.61, and the Macklin Kinnete Club getting $1,910.29. The biggest grants went towards the Macklin Minor Ball Association at $3040.15, and just a little lower was the West Central Wheat Kings U15 AA program in receiving $2,735.74.

"We are pleased to see these grants going out to hundreds of groups in communities throughout our province," Minister responsible for LGS Laura Ross said. "These funds support youth involved in amateur sport, music and culture, service clubs like the Lions and Kinsmen, and much more. These activities are important for the health and wellbeing of community residents, and contribute to our quality of life."
