In the early morning hours of August 9th, the Unity RCMP were alerted that some subjects were going through vehicles in the Town of Unity.  Members went looking for the subjects but did not encounter them during the night/ early morning hours.

The next morning the Unity RCMP advise that there were multiple reports of vehicles being entered, and change stolen. There were two vehicles that were damaged by the subject(s) rummaging around in the vehicles, and a third vehicle was stolen and driven around town for a period of time before being returned to where it was stolen from with fresh damage noted to the vehicle.

Unity RCMP are asking residents with security cameras to review their footage for images of persons walking or driving between the hours of 2am and 4am the morning of Tuesday August 9th.

Unity RCMP are particularly interested in any footage that may exist showing a person(s) operating a 2004 black crew cab GMC Sierra 1500, which was stolen and then returned with damages to a residence in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue West.

While the thefts from vehicles and damages occurred primarily along 3rd Avenue West, the Unity RCMP would ask that anyone with cameras with footage from the noted time frame review the footage and contact the Unity RCMP if they observe any suspicious activity.

Unity RCMP are reminding the residents of Unity to lock their vehicles. The Unity RCMP also suggest that residents remove valuable items from their vehicles, and to not leave keys in their vehicles when they are unattended. To deter thefts from vehicles the RCMP also suggest that vehicles be parked in well-lit areas when possible.

Unity RCMP also request that if your vehicle is damaged or broken into, that you contact the RCMP prior to touching anything.
