There is bad news for Saskatchewan residents as it relates to our power bills.
Power bills will be going up. However, the good news is they won't go up as much as first thought. Starting August 1st, the Rate Review Panel is recommending a 4.5 per cent hike.
The panel says since SaskPower's request for 7 per cent was made, the price of natural gas has gone down, which reduces their costs of generating power.
The panel also states that the public needs to hear more about the province's looming infrastructure deficit and how much it's going to cost us to bring the grid up to speed.
