It was a successful weekend of ball around the region as teams travelled to compete in provincials from July 5th to the 7th. Local teams such as the Macklin Lakers, Rosetown Angels, Kindersley Royals, Unity Panthers, and Leader Expos all ended the weekend with medals around their neck.
The U12 C-North Girls travelled to Delisle to compete for the championship playing softball. The Macklin Lakers went undefeated throughout the weekend to take gold in the finals against the Rosetown Angels. The game ended with a score of 8-1 in five innings.
The U12 C-South Girls played softball in Leader where the hometown team, the Leader Expos, went undefeated throughout the weekend. The Kindersley Royals played the Expos in the finals but ultimately took the silver medal with the Leader Expos claiming gold with a final score of 10-9.
The Unity Panthers U14 B Girls took the silver medal in Saskatoon as they lost their final game.
The U16 Girls spent the weekend in Regina playing ball. The Macklin Lakers started their weekend strong with a couple wins but were delayed on Saturday by the rain. The girls had an early Sunday morning and went undefeated to face Humboldt in the finals. Due to tornado warnings the girls were unable to play the final game and were declared U16 ‘B’ Girls Provincial Champions for they previously defeated Humboldt.
As for the Unity Panthers U16 ‘B’W Girls, their weekend in Regina went well as they climbed their way to the finals to face the Biggar Nationals. Ultimately the girls lost and took the silver medal.
Throughout July ball teams will be travelling to compete in provincials around the region.
