Water quality tests have been conducted at the Motherwell Reservoir for its aeration system for an update on its progress; the results have brought back good news. Significant improvements have been recorded to the quality of the reservoir water since the aeration system's installation.

Town Council decided to have the aeration system installed for the purpose to provide added circulation to the water, and assist in controlling harmful algae, odour, and toxicity.

Canadian environment company H2O Logistics have been running the tests for the Town of Kindersley, and supplied the results and information of the reservoir's water quality. The evaluations were made on June 9th showing oxygen levels had increased in most samples acquired from evaluators. It displays double the levels shown from samples taken in the same areas on July 29, 2015 when the system was installed.

"These results are very positive. Within less than a year, the quality of the water in Motherwell Reservoir has already improved and the system is producing the results we hoped for," said Chief Administrative Officer Bernie Morton, expressing his thoughts on the progress made by the aeration system to date. "This is great news as we think long-term toward the development of the Motherwell Reservoir into a fully recreational water area in the future."

Although, the process of recirculating the reservoir's water must continue despite the positive results provided from H2O Logistics for the aeration system's performance. Unpleasant odours are expected as existing milfoil and algae are removed from multiple areas within the reservoir. Aeration experts have confirmed this is a normal part of the process as the water quality improves.
