The Elrose Care home had their annual auction and bake sale on Saturday.

The Fundraiser is put on to bring in funds to support the activities that are offered to the residents during the year. Local business and individuals from both Elrose and Rosetown as well as the local community contribute to the event.

The fundraiser is based around the residents with many participating.  Some of the residents will create crafts and knit to be part of the sale, helping to bring personal touches to the event.

The Care home uses the money for numerous activities including having live music every month, whether it be carol groups, local entertainers or performers out of the city. Fuel for the bus is also paid for by the funds. The bus gives the residents a chance to get out into the local communitys, such as an ice cream trip or an event happening across town. Money also helps beautify the grounds that surround the facility for both the public and the residents to enjoy.

"We have a large garden in the back with flower beds and vegetable gardens and a large portion of the funds go towards planting that every year with the help of the residents, it gives them a place to enjoy the outdoors." explained Erin Hess.

Hess is the care team manager at Elrose. She and her team head up the Fundraiser every year with the goal of success to help better the residents stay. Last year the auction raised roughly $8000.00 which Hess was hopeful would be achieved again this year.

Hess is grateful to all who contributed this year.

A total from the event this year has not yet been tallied.
