The SHSAA senior basketball bracket is moving onto its final round. HOOPLA matchups haven't been announced as of Monday morning, and it should be mentioned that the final weekend of play is in jeopardy with upcoming Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation job action.

Back to the action that did take place on provincial courts this weekend, senior girls play saw Kindersley and Unity both take part in 3A regional tournaments. Kindersley dropped their game against Wynyard, and Unity would lose to Lanigan to end their season in regionals.

Other girls teams opened up their action in 2A and 1A. One of those teams were the Eaton School Spartans, who were in Norquay for play in the 2A bracket. Read about them below, as other 2A matchups saw only LCBI moving onto HOOPLA for local teams.

1A girls games saw Wilkie moving onto HOOPLA after wins on their home court. Kerrobert's season is finished after losing to Asquith, and the final local team Luseland saw their season end after a loss to Hepburn to start the 1A bracket.

1A boys action on the weekend saw both Eston and Kerrobert losing out in their respective tournaments. Eston lost out to Davidson, and then Kerrobert couldn't carry momentum from Friday's win as their HOOPLA dreams were dashed against Hafford on Saturday.

2A boys play saw LCBI come the closest for local teams, losing out to Norquay to end their season. The Outlook based school was the only west-central team in the 2A field.

Finally, the 3A tournament had both Kindersley and Unity in action. Unity put themselves within striking distance of HOOPLA with a Friday win, but ultimately fell-short taking on Moose Jaw Cornerstone on Saturday. The Kindersley Kobras lost a heartbreaker 100-88 on Friday, ending their season with a Saturday consolation against Moosomin as the season ended with a win.

The page for HOOPLA 24 is up, and nearly ready to go. It's the biggest weekend of high school basketball in Saskatchewan, but only time will tell if it's able to go off without a hitch.

HOOPLA is being held in Moose Jaw in 2024, and good luck locally goes out to 1A girls from Wilkie, and 2A girls from LCBI.
