The Rosetown Leisure and Aquatic Centre is preparing for another busy, summer season. We at West Central Online had a chance to talk to Renae Wenzel, one of the facility managers about the upcoming season.

“We are hoping to open the pool this Saturday (June 1st) but if all goes well we may be opening Friday.”

Wenzel added that the weather plays the biggest part in determining how many swimmers the pool will see on a daily basis. Thursday evenings are a busy time for the pool. From 6:00-8:30pm, the staff puts out an inflatable obstacle course for guests to use.

“It’s this very large blow up obstacle course we put in the pool,” Renae says. “It takes up about three quarters of the length of the pool. So Thursday is usually a lot busier.”

Swimming lessons can be can be booked through the town office. Renae did add that most of June’s classes are already all booked up, however there are lots of openings available for the rest of the summer months. New this year is a teen/adult drop-in class from 9:00-9:30am throughout the month of June.

“This gives adults, who are less comfortable with joining a level where the swimmers are generally younger, a swim time. If you can make it then, that would be great!”

Along with regular programming, there will be a few other events to look forward to. The Rosetown Leisure and Aquatic Centre will host their annual drowning prevention day on June, 26th, 2019, which also coincides with National Drowning Prevention week. As well as Rosetown will host this years Provincial Speed Swim meet later in July. The facility hopes to see many athletes from the Rosetown Swim Club advance and compete.
