The Saskatchewan Health Authority has recently recognized Rosetown as being an age-friendly community. "Age Friendly" is an international initiative that strives to create safe, supportive and inclusive environments in which seniors can thrive.

The following initiatives were put into place to make Rosetown more age-friendly:

• Installing benches sponsored by local businesses, groups or individuals strategically throughout town to provide rest areas for those in need.
• Advocating for an automated door at the post office.
• Hosting Toast to Seniors free breakfast events and sponsoring the Harvest Festival Royalty.
• Partnering with the local Lions Club to host social events of interest to seniors with transportation provided, such as an evening of old time Christmas music.
• Requesting an extension to the town's sidewalk shaving program to help prevent falls, which resulted in the Town's purchase of their own equipment.

Through the support of the municipal government, town council, an age-friendly committee, the business community, seniors and local health professionals, Rosetown is now a safer place for its senior citizens. A survey was also conducted to help determine areas of potential improvement.
