The Rosetown Sr. Royals football team will be on the field for their home opener against the Kindersley Kobras tomorrow afternoon.

Head Coach of the Sr. Royals Mitch Wintonyk is looking forward to the matchup.

"This will be our first meaningful league game. Outlook (LCBI) couldn't make a go of it for the first week we were supposed to play them. And then we played Hanna for an exhibition game, and we used that to get every kid in. So, that was good every kid got live reps and got to play in a game," Wintonyk said.

With this being the Sr. Royals first official league game, Wintonyk said the kids are chomping at the bit to get things going.

"We're looking forward to our first meaningful one (game), it has been a long training camp, so they are getting excited for it."

Also of note for Friday's game is the early kickoff which is at 2:00 pm. Wintonyk explains there will be some special fans taking part in the action.

“Kids get out of class just before kickoff, we call it our student appreciation game. We get Walter Aseltine students to come down and bring their classes until the end of the day, and the buses pick them up. Elrose Composite School also comes down and brings the bus of kids because we are co-opped with Elrose and we have 10 or 11 kids from Elrose on our team. It's a pretty good crowd, our kids really look forward to it and it' been good to build a little bit of relationship with both Elrose Composite School and our elementary school.”
