The Rosetown United Church organized their 6th Annual Food Drive on Monday June 5th. The Food Drive started around 6:00pm with teams of four or five splitting up around the town canvassing their designated area looking to collect as many items as possible.

All of the proceeds and donations are being given back to the Rosetown & District Food Bank. They are a local charity that focuses on feeding the less fortunate around the area.

A total of 38 volunteers were participating in the event to canvass the town. The town was divided into eight seperate areas and the people were divided evenly into groups of 4 or 5 people. The food drive lasted for approximately two and a half hours, or until a group finished their specific area.

Close to a half-ton full of food was donated in the few hours of the food drive, which beat the original goal from the start of the evening.

The Rosetown Food Bank has noticed that over the last two years, there has been more and more people that need their resources. The Food Bank relies heavily on local donations, and the United Church was able to be a major component in filling the shelves for the community.

On Thursday, the Rosetown United Church is hosting a hamburger BBQ to help raise more money for the community.
