On Thursday March 28, the Rosetown Music Festival held their 90th annual concert and awards night. Over the course of two weeks, March 18 to March 26, local children and youth took to the stage preforming in piano, instrumental, vocal, and speech arts.
.
Carmen Ledding, President of the music festival said, "This years festival went extremely well. Our festival committee works really well together. This years piano adjudicator remarked to many community members downtown that this was the best festival she had attended Saskatchewan. She loved how organized everything was, how cheerful everyone was, how prepared all the students were, and how helpful all the teachers were. She was just astounded at how well everything went."
Ledding continued by saying, " I grew up in a small town and our festivals didn't seem to be as vibrant. When I moved to Rosetown I was inspired by the fabulous teachers that we had here and I really felt that if I was going to live in a community where music was very vibrant and was a priority I felt I had to get out there and volunteer in order to make it available not only for my children but for the community at large."
This years music festival included children as young as five and six, who preformed piano for the first time in front of an adjudicator all the way up to 18 years of age. Being the 90th year for Rosetown Music Festival a special guest, Bonnie Nickleson, member of the Provencal Board of the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association came out to offer congratulations during the final concert Thursday night.
