It is illegal for a vehicle to pass a school bus on a residential street while it's safety lights and stop arm are in use.

The RCMP remind everyone that the safety of our children is a primary concern and if this is disobeyed, a $360.00 fine will be the result.

The Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act states that vehicles must stop at least five meters to the front or back of a school bus while it's stopped with safety lights on and the stop arm is out. No vehicle should pass a school bus while it's safety lights are on.

It is especially important to remember this law at this time of year because school buses will be back on the roads as of August 30th.
