Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • R.M. of Chesterfield including Eatonia and Mantario
  • R.M. of Newcombe including Glidden and Madison
  • R.M. of Snipe Lake including Eston and Plato

At 7:16 p.m. CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

This thunderstorm is located to the northeast of Leader and is moving east at 50 km/h.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible later today across portions of west-central Saskatchewan as a low pressure centre moves through the area. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe with primary threats of large hail and strong winds.

Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
