The first game after the Christmas break for the Kindersley Sr. Klippers was a rematch from the last game they played in 2021, against the Kerrobert Tigers. Unlike the previous matchup in Kindersley, this game was quite a bit closer for the majority of the game.

Things did start of well for the Sr. Klippers as they got on the board first, as Shayne Neigum scored with 11:49 left in the first to give Kindersley a 1-0 lead. Then about three minutes later, Darian Dziurzynski scored, with the assists going to Jarret Reichert and brother David Dziurzynski. The Tigers then answered back just a minute later, as Brett Neumeier scored after a nice forecheck, taking the puck away and scoring on a wrap around to cut the lead in half with 7:53 left in the first. Things stayed that way until 3:02 left in the first, as Brandon Cummings scored on a nice passing play from linemates Troy Boisjoli and Damon McKenzie to get the lead back to a couple. Then the Sr. Klippers went to the powerplay and took advantage, as Cummings got his second of the game with 41 seconds left in the first to make it 4-1 heading into the first intermission.

After 1: Sr. Klippers 4 - 1 Tigers, shots 16-11 Sr. Klippers

The second period saw a pair of goals by the Tigers after killing off a 5-3 with Garret Smith in the box for hooking and Adam Duhaime getting a two minute penalty for checking from behind and game misconduct. Then an innocent looking play changed the outlook of the second period. After dumping the puck out on the penalty kill, Avery Cholin bumped Kindersley goaltender Brayden Engel, who was making his first start of the season for the Sr. Klippers, and Engel went after Cholin, giving him two or three good shots with his blocker before the officials could step in. Engel was immediately ejected and given a match penalty for this part in the altercation, and the Tigers went to the powerplay. Sr. Klippers goalie Luke Sproule had to come in cold, and did well making some saves early on in the five minute powerplay for Kerrobert, but with just under a minute left on the penalty, Kerrobert's Brett Neumeier got his second of the game to cut the lead to a pair. Kerrobert didn't stop there, as three and half minutes later, Matthew Roblin scored on a nice setup from Avery Cholin to make the score 4-3. That's the way it stayed heading into the locker room.

After 2: Sr. Klippers 4 - 3 Tigers, shots 12-12 in the period, 28-23 Sr. Klippers overall

After the second period, which included a push back by the Tigers, the Sr. Klippers came out with a better effort the final frame, outshooting Kerrobert by a wide margin. Kindersley got on the board with 14:30 left in the third period, as captain Troy Boisjoli scored a powerplay goal, with the assist going to Damon McKenzie. Kindersley kept peppering goaltender Dillon Beaudien, as he faced another 40 plus shots this season. Kerrobert did have a couple of chances with the score 5-3 as Brett Neumeier had a partial break and was cross checked down by Shayne Neigum to draw a penalty, however, Kerrobert could not take advantage. Then on a nice pass from Tate Page, Byron Ismond got in alone on a breakway and beat Beaudien, to extend the lead to three with 2:57 left and that's the way the game ended.

FINAL: Sr. Klippers 6 - 3 Tigers, shots 20-8 Sr. Klippers in the period, 48-31 Sr. Klippers overall

Saturday's game between the two rivals was much closer then the 6-3 score would suggest, as the Tigers actually put the play towards the Sr. Klippers for much of the second period, and it was a one goal game after two. Kindersley managed to bounce back from goaltender Engel's match penalty, and came out in the third period and outshot the Tigers by a two to one margin.

Next action for the Sr. Klippers is a road matchup against the Macklin Mohawks on January 14 at 8:30 pm, which will be broadcast on Classic Hits 1330/1210 with pregame starting at 8:15 pm from the Macklin & District Communiplex.
