Even though the Biggar RCMP had units tied up with Country Thunder Saskatchewan, there were no shortage of calls to service as members responded to 42 occurrences over the week-long period. There were six traffic offences and two warnings.

Biggar RCMP handed out a pair of suspensions to drivers found over the blood alcohol limit. Even worse, a full vehicle was present each time.

First off police stopped a 40-year-old male driving on Highway 4 south with his two kids, both under 15 years old. The father behind the wheel received a stiff provincial 30 day suspension after failing the roadside screening for alcohol, along with having the vehicle impounded.

In the second case it was a 25-year-old driver near Perdue who rolled his vehicle off Highway 14 with three other passengers, as it was later found that the driver was operating his vehicle with a blood alcohol level of 110mg%. Thankfully all four of the vehicle's occupants were uninjured, as the driver was given an indefinite suspension.

One specific call that stuck out in the report had to with drinks and another type of transportation. Members were called to a horse parked at the bar too long without water. That made the following complaint of riding bikes on the sidewalk seem minor, though riders should be mindful that is not allowed. It's important to be courteous enough to get off wherever there is pedestrian traffic.

The list also detailed a 32-year-old male who was arrested for domestic assault where a 36-year-old female went backwards through a glass door. In another case members assisted EMS with a 29-year-old acting erratically, naked, in the family kitchen as they were eventually transported to Saskatoon. Members also assisted Saskatoon City Police with their investigation into stolen property that has made its way to Biggar and area as the RM of Glenside continues to report on-going vandalism to the community pasture fence.

One call that came in shared a person was attempting to shoot some video near Subway. Another one detailed a couple of suspicious vehicles and people through the area. A beat-up blue Toyota scoping out an abandoned yard in the RM of Eagle Creek was reported to police, and a black Toyota Tacoma that was testing areas in the RM of Biggar.

Seven other calls were listed for various poor adult behavior. The list includes a disturbance at the Perdue Golf Course, two alarm calls, two fraud complaints, and 'same old story' of a break and enter into a seasonal residence near Springwater and another in town.

Reports of garbage being left in the alley near 3 Ave East made it into the report, and also the neighbourly complaint from 7 Ave East where individuals did not appreciate being serenated by a dog. Another false alarm came in as a grandchild visiting from BC thought grandma’s rotary phone was really fun to play with, and ended up dispatching a 911 call to 3 Ave East in Biggar.

Biggar RCMP Sgt. Dereck Crozier wanted to finish things off by mentioning another local event.

"A shout out is in order to the RM of Biggar, and all the volunteers that put together a day at Springwater Lake to show case their hidden gem as a great activity area." stated Crozier in the latest report. "Take care out there!"
