West Central female hockey players are having great success playing in Swift Current for the Female AAA Wildcats. Brooklyn Rublee from Kindersley is off to fast start along with the team early on in the Saskatchewan Female AAA Hockey League. She has 7 points in 4 games 3 points behind her teammate Sara Kendall who sits with 10 and 1 behind teammate Baylee Kirwan who has 8. It’s no surprise the ladies are top 3 in scoring early on as they are line mates for the Wildcats. Brooklyn isn’t the only Rublee on the team though as she is joined by her younger sister Shelby who plays defence for the team. There is also a couple more Kindersley connections for the Swift Current Wildcats as Gracie Georget plays forward and Madison Garrett who plays defence and is the alternate captain for the Wildcats to round up the players from the Kindersley area. The Swift Current AAA Wildcats aren’t back on the ice until October 20 when they host the Saskatoon Stars before going on the road to Weyburn to play the Gold Wings on October 26 and 27.

The Swift Current area isn’t just blessed with female AAA talent from the West Central Region. Logan Linklater plays forward for the Swift Legionnaires Midget AAA team in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. He is joined by Kindersley native Tylin Hilbig who both have 1 point through the first 6 games for the Legionnaires. Both Linklater and Hilbig starred for the West Central Wheat Kings Bantam AA team and have both moved on to AAA hockey in the province. Jakin Lawerence who is from Rosetown lead the Bantam AA Wheat Kings in scoring last season with 35 points in 31 games and has 2 goals in 6 games for the Legionnaires early on this season. Another Rosetown connection plays defense for the Legionnaires as well. Defenceman Eric Robbie is off to a strong start this season as well collecting 6 points in 7 games so far this season. The Legionnaires sit at 4-3 after a 7-1 win over the Notre Dame Argos on October 9.
