The West Central District Athletics Association held their annual track and field championships over the weekend in Saskatoon. The top qualifiers from sectionals gathered at the Gordie Howe Track and Field Complex to compete for a spot in provincials this upcoming weekend.

Nineteen schools total were included in the competition. Rosetown had contender athletes in nearly every event at each level, and it showed as Royals athletes ran away with the lead in each category of medals.

Below is the combined medal count for both men's and women's play. As you can tell by the standings, gold medals meant a little more.

  2. Outlook High School - 39 total (12G-18S-9B)
  3. Davidson High School - 19 total (12G-4S-4B)
  4. LCBI High School - 9 total (9G-2S-3B) 
  5. Elrose Composite High School - 20 total (8G-7S-5B)
  6. Kenaston School - 15 total (7G-4S-4B)
  7. Dinsmore School - 14 total (6G-2S-6B)
  8. Biggar Central School 2000 - 6 total (4G-0S-2B)
  9. Loreburn Central School - 8 total (3G-2S-3B)
  10. Kindersley Composite School - 13 total (2G-2S-9B)
  11. Kyle Composite School - 7 total (2G-3S-2B)
  12. Elizabeth Middle School - 13 total (2G-2S-9B)
  13. Lucky Lake High School - 4 total (2G-2S-0B)
  14. North West Central School - 9 total (1G-2S-6B)
  15. Eaton School - 6 total (0G-5S-1B)

Qualifying athletes from districts will have until Wednesday to lock their spot into provincials. SHSAA Track and Field provincial championships will be taking place at the same location in Saskatoon, June 7-8.
