Fun indoor activities will be available all weekend long during the Town of Eston's "Winter Kickoff" event. Eston's "Summer Kickoff" held over the past few years inspired the event, and now residents will be eager for the chance to usher in a brand-new-season with the same fun celebration.

Eston rec director Garrett Turner even managed to line up the fun weekend with west-central Saskatchewan's first snowfall.

Things get underway Friday night with a 19+ rec hockey game at the rink.  At the same time a kids movie night showing 'Mighty Ducks' at the nearby hall will keep the little ones busy.

Turner talked about the main plans for Saturday which involves some serious ice-time.

"What we are going to do is have a 3v3 tournament." shared Turner as four U11 teams will do battle, and then the two U13 teams in town will engage in a best of three series. Turner continued with some more fun on the ice. "We've also got a curling bonspiel. That's going to be four ends, two games each, all day on Saturday."

Saturday will also see a free family public skate available at noon. The mezzanine will be open all weekend long, and a comedy show and dance afterwards at the hall will help close out the day.

Sunday will also be busy according to Turner.

"We've got a pickleball tournament, and it'll be $2 to bowl."

Outside of that there will be a progressive 50/50 for the weekend to be announced before the 3v3 Final. Another draw at the same time will see the chance to win a free week at the Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp up for grabs as all of the players who take part this weekend are eligible to win.

Fall and spring better watch out, because the Town of Eston surely knows how to bring in a new season.
