The small village of Conquest is holding their very own New Year’s Eve Party to help raise money for an expansion to their Fire Hall.

The Conquest Community Hockey Rink will be hosting the event, allowing guests to enjoy some skating as long as the weather holds up. Guests will also be able to take part in a silent auction, a trivia contest, 50/50 draws, and some games of chance. This auction will be a little different, as members of the Fire Department have donated some of their own possessions to become the evening’s prizes.

Conquest Fire Chief Bob Jones, who helped put this dinner together, is hoping to see a good turnout.

“We’ve been fortunate that Kinsman has been very good to us in Outlook, so some of their fellas are coming over to help support us. We’ve let Milden know, their Fire Department, so we’re expecting some of them might show up. Then from Macrorie, we let it be known down there, put some posters up down there, so we’re hoping we’ll get some people from Macrorie and Outlook too.”

The funds from this dinner will be going towards the expansion of the Conquest Fire Hall, which only has two stalls for fire engines. Chief Jones said that the expansion is the only planned renovation for the fire hall right now, and also explained why it is they need the expansion.

“We’ve actually gone from two trucks to three, and we got a bunch more equipment and it’s just become too small for our needs. It was fine when it was built back in 1978, but it’s just not big enough to house everything we need to house in there now.”

With 2020 less than a week away, the Village of Conquest will be able to squeeze in one last fundraiser before the year ends.
